About me
I'm Agustin Barrientos, a frontend engineer and UI/UX designer, and a Google Developer Expert (GDE) in Web Technologies. I'm originally from Argentina, and these days I'm living in Bogota, Colombia.
I've been obsessed with computers for as long as I can remember (here's proof). At 8, I used to take them apart to learn about the parts and play with them.
Back in 2008, when I was 12, I right-clicked a page on a social network that was popular in Argentina and, just out of curiosity, clicked on the option that showed me its source code. I found all that complexity and color mesmerizing. I later found that what I was seeing was HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, so I started learning the basics on my own by watching YouTube videos and reading W3Schools.
As I was learning, I created a lot of personal projects just for fun until I got my first official paid job in December 2012, when I was 16. I started a small agency with online friends, and we designed and developed the Unicoos website, among other projects. I haven't stopped working on things for the web since then.
Today I work at Uncanny Owl, where I build the frontend of a no-code automation tool called Uncanny Automator and its AI copilot, Uncanny Agent. People have used Automator's interface to create automations that have run more than 200 million times. Both products are built 100% with web components and Lit, on top of an in-house library of reusable components and reactive controllers I created myself. Thanks to that library, the Agent can run independently of whatever it plugs into.
I'm also the developer of TOCus, a free browser extension that adds a short pause before you visit the websites you choose, to help you concentrate.
Every week, I publish two posts, one about how a senior developer makes decisions and one about web and AI news. I also give talks about practical ways to improve your users' experience and convert better. And I post videos on YouTube, like this one about how to get a developer job when entry-level seats are shrinking.
